First Hampton Group Paper Published

The first paper from the Hampton Group appeared online on Monday, March 22. The publication in Review of Scientific Instruments describes the design and characterization of the teflon electrochemical cell that is used for wafer working electrodes. Surface Lab students Nicholas Wozniak, Alyssa Frey, Lucas Osterbur, and Timothy Boman are coauthors.


Jennifer Hampton Contributes Matlab Programs to Software Library

Matlab programs that Jennifer Hampton wrote for reading NanoScope data files into a Matlab matrix have been added to the Software Library at the Nanoprobe Network. 2007 Nobel Prize in Physics

The 2007 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Albert Fert of France and Peter Grünberg of Germany for the discovery in 1988 of Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR). The Nobel website has a nice description (pdf format, 236KB) of the effect and its applications. Current research in the Hampton Group includes the study of electrodeposited GMR materials.
